Enough votes have come in to confirm that Neil Burke will be the new GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs (which will become the New York Americans after all the planned team swaps are done).

The new GM will take over the California Seals. As previously mentioned, I'll notify the person at the top of the waiting list at 5:00 today about that opening.

Voting for the next owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs (currently schedled to become the New York Americans after the draft) is now underway. The choices are as follows:

Neil Burke (California Seals)
Al Sylvestre (Montreal Maroons)
New GM

Anyone who does not vote will be counted towards the new GM. The voting will end at 5:00 PM on Monday or whenever enough votes have been cast to clinch a decision. I ask that anyone wanting to vote for the new GM do so quickly rather than waiting for the deadline and having that vote cast by default.

At 5:00 on Monday, whoever is at the top of the waiting list will be contacted for whichever team is open (Maple Leafs, Seals, or Maroons).

With roster cleaning done, the roll call complete, and award voting wrapping up on Friday, there are only a couple of things left to take care of this offseason.

The most important thing league-wide is the draft, which is now scheduled for May 17. It begins at noon and runs until 8:00 PM (Eastern) using the same format as last year. The draft order (and results, as they come in) can be seen at http://fhl.detroithockey.net/history/drafts/season13.php.

Between now and then, we need to get one new GM into the league. We're going to try something discussed in the Offseason Stuff, Round Two thread and see how it goes.

The open team is the Toronto Maple Leafs (currently set to become the New York Americans after some post-draft team swaps). Any current GM wishing to give up their team to take on Toronto can contact me between now and 5:00 PM on Friday. Starting at 5:00 PM, a vote will take place where the current GMs will decide whether to give the Maple Leafs to one of the GMs who asked for them or to a new GM. If a current GM gets the Leafs, the incoming GM will take that GM's current team.

Additionally, because we have an open team, we're doing another one of those planned team swap things (referenced above). Planned swaps (to be executed after the draft) and GMs wishing to take over the Leafs will be listed below.

Rerates (however limited they were this offseason) have been completed and the trades office is now open. I'll schedule the draft after either all GMs have checked in or all teams have GMs.

Toronto is the only team left who hasn't replied. Should Steve be opting out of the league, we may have the question of allowing new GMs to take over well-built teams come up again. I'd like to hear thoughts on that.

Roster cleaning is up between now and the draft. More information on that will also come after we have a full compliment of GMs.

Offseason Housecleaning, Round One

There are three things I'd like to take care of in the first round of offseason housecleaning. After this batch of things, rerates will happen (at which point trading will reopen) followed by roster cleaning and the draft.

The first thing is a roll call. Everyone who wants to participate in the next season should post in this thread. I'll keep track of who hasn't replied below. The deadline for the roll call is 5:00 PM Eastern on April 30.

The second is award voting. Nominees should be emailed to me by 5:00 PM on April 25, with voting to take place over the following week. Award nomination and voting are not required but the roll call is.

The third thing is feedback on a couple of possible rule/procedure changes.

A question that came up earlier this season is should a trade offer have an expiration date? Or under what circumstances should a trade offer be considered void?

A second question is should we continue to rerate players back to their start-of-season ratings in offseasons when there are no ratings updates or should we allow players who increased or decreased in ratings throughout the season to keep those ratings.

I'd like to hear people's thoughts on these two items and feel free to post any questions or concerns.

The Season Twelve playoffs are complete, with the Minnesota North Stars having completed a sweep of the Hamilton Tigers to claim yet another Memorial Trophy. Yeah, I know...

As always, congrats to everyone for another great season. I say over and over again that this league is only so good because of the dedication of the GMs that belong to it and every season you guys prove it again.

I'll get some things for the start of Season Thirteen settled over the next few days. That will include rerates (we're just reloading last season's ratings since there are no new ones yet), opening trading, award voting, and discussion on a couple possible rule changes.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask. Again, thanks to everyone for a great year.

The Toronto Maple Leafs got two clutch goals tonight, with Mike Cammalleri with 40 seconds left in regulation to force overtime and Mark Recchi picking up the game-winner just 37 seconds into the extra period, giving Toronto a 4-3 series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Toronto moves on to face the Hamilton Tigers, who previously upset the Boston Bruins in a six-game series.

In the Gretzky Conference, the top-seeded Minnesota North Stars will host the Cleveland Barons. The Barons are coming off a four-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies while the defending champion North Stars finished off the Ottawa Senators in six games.

Running late getting more info posted...

The farm standings have been fixed and the code for that has been added to the scripts that run every time games are simmed so it will never happen again. Not sure what happened in the first place so I just rebuilt the standings based on the actual game results.

All of the regular season banners have been added to each team and can be placed in their rafters if the GMs so desire.

Up next, the All-Star Game, hosted this season by the Lemieux Division Champion Cleveland Barons (as mentioned above, one of those great rebuilding stories). Information is available in the All-Star thread.
