        <![CDATA[<p>Detroit Red Wings netminder Chris Osgood will join three teammates and his coach in Atlanta for this year's NHL All-Star Game, the league announced today.</p>

<p>With the starting lineup already determined by fan voting, the rest of the Western Conference team's roster was announced Thursday.  Osgood was named to the team, joining starters Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, and Nicklas Lidstrom.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Without two-thirds of their top forward line, the Detroit Red Wings still shut down the Minnesota Wild Saturday night, winning 4-1 while outshooting them 51-19.</p>

<p>The 51 shots were a season-high for Detroit.</p>

<p>Minnesota's Marian Gaborik, who scored five goals on Thursday against the New York Rangers, tallied only one assist and was -2 with two shots.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Defenseman Mathieu Schneider has left the Detroit Red Wings, signing as an unrestricted free agent with the Anaheim Ducks.</p>

<p>Schneider's two-year deal with Anaheim will pay him $5.5 million next season and $5.75 million the following campaign.</p>

<p>Originally drafted by the Montreal Canadiens, Schneider had also played for the New York Islanders, Toronto Maple Leafs, New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings before joining the Red Wings in a trade-deadline deal in 2003.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Detroit Red Wings Nicklas Lidstrom and Pavel Datsyuk were honored with NHL awards Thursday night, repeating as the winners of the James Norris Trophy and the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, respectively.</p>

<p>Lidstrom won the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman for the fifth time, matching a feat accomplished by Ray Bourque.  Only Bobby Orr (eight) and Doug Harvey (seven) have won it more times.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Netminder Joey MacDonald was claimed by the Boston Bruins on Saturday, a day after the Detroit Red Wings placed him on waivers.</p>

<p>The Red Wings cleared $117,000 towards the salary cap with the move while the Bruins gained goaltending depth.</p>

<p>MacDonald went 1-5-1 in his tenure as Detroit's third goalie this season, with a 3.46 goals against average and a save percentage of .872.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>Two Detroit Red Wings claimed trophies at the 2006 NHL Awards Show on Thursday night.  Defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom walked away with the James Norris Memorial Trophy while forward Pavel Datsyuk was given the Lady Byng Trophy.</p>

<p>Lidstrom earned the Norris Trophy - awarded to the league's best defenseman - for the fourth time in five years.  He has been nominated for the award seven of the last eight years.  Leading the league's defensemen in scoring, Lidstrom beat out Anaheim's Scott Niedermayer, the 2004 winner, and Dallas' Sergei Zubov.</p>]]>

        <![CDATA[<p>On the final night of the National Hockey League's regular season the matchups for the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs were finally determined.</p>

<p>With the Carolina Hurricanes' loss to the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators' win over the New York Rangers, Ottawa claimed the Eastern Conference's top spot.  They matchup with the Tampa Bay Lighting, who lost to the Washington Capitals to keep from passing the Montreal Canadiens, who will now face Carolina.</p>]]>
